Jack Donahue is a New Orleans native who grew up in the construction industry. He earned his Civil Engineering degree from LSU in 1967. In 1979, Jack opened his construction firm in Mandeville, LA, serving as President and CEO. DonahueFavret Contractors grosses over $120 million annually, and Jack currently serves as Chairman of the Board of DonahueFavret Contractors.
Jack has a history of service and leadership, having served three terms in the Louisiana State Senate (2008-2020), representing District 11. Through the years, he has been Chairman of Associated Builders and Contractors for New Orleans and Louisiana, Chairman of the Louisiana Association of Business & Industry, Co-chair of GNO Inc. Tax Competitiveness Task Force, Chairman of the Causeway Commission, Chairman of the Business Council of St. Tammany Parish, President of the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation, President of Legatus Northshore, and board member of the Catholic Foundation of New Orleans and the Northshore.
Jack was named to the LSU Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Hall of Distinction, was Legislator of the Year for the Alliance for Good Government, received the John H. Hainkel Leadership Award by the Senate Republican Delegation, and was given the Guardian of Small Business Award by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). Jack also received the Community Leadership Award, Business of the Year by the St. Tammany West Chamber of Commerce, and was named Member of the Year by Associated Builders and Contractors.
He currently serves as an appointed member of the Safe Haven Advisory Board, Chairman of the Board of the Safe Haven Foundation, and a Board Member of the Money Hill Country Club.
